Reduction of carboxylic acid (Trolox) (I) with LiAlH4 in refluxing diethyl ether affords alcohol (TM) (II). Reaction of (II) in DMSO with maltose (III) and alpha-glucosidase in potassium phosphate buffer yields the final product.
